Why would anyone play such an old version?
The server is based on beta 1.7.3 because it is meant to bring nostalgia (hence the name) back into old players. Its also for players who are sick and tired of the new updates Mojang has to offer and they want a more simplistic server experience without the new unrealistic blocks or features.
